Another 2 suspensions were given by the NHL, both accuring in Pittsburgh-Tampa Bay Game 3. First was Tampa's Steve Downie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5E90MtPMYg
Downie received a 1 game suspension and missed game 4's overtime loss to Pittsburgh tonight. A penalty was called on the play (as it should have). Downie left his feet and made contact with the head of Lovejoy. I see it being a suspension. The hit was vicious but I think if he didn't leave his feet he would have gotten away without the suspension. But I think the NHL got this one right.
Next was Pittsburgh's Chris Kunitz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjkJYQXPtWk
This was a penalty and clearly a suspension. There was no way he did not target the head and the elbow of Kunitz hit Simon Gagne' pretty hard. Gagne' went down but got up and continued playing just fine. This may be why Kunitz only got 1 game for the elbow.
