I mentioned it my other post about game 1 but in case you missed it, during a scrum, Vancouver's Alex Burrows bit Boston's Patrice Bergeron's finger.

As mentioned, Bergeron was okay and continued and continued playing.
So newly promoted Brendan Shanahan and the NHL had to come up with a decision today on whether or not they'd suspend Burrows. Well they announced today that Burrows won't be suspended. NHL vice President Mike Murphy explained, "After reviewing the incident, including speaking to the on-ice officials, I can find no conclusive evidence that Alex Burrows intentionally bit the finger of Patrice Bergeron." Seriously?... Well I guess it was hard to tell how intentionally it was if you're looking for 100% clear proof. Bergeron put his hand by Burrows' face and to get rid of it, Burrows chomped down on the index finger. But Burrows' hand was essentially blocking it. Am I denying that Burrows bit his finger? No. He clearly bit it. But this was just an understanding of the explanation. And besides, at least now the Bruins players and fans know what it's like to have an opponent get away with something illegal.
My favorite part of this whole altercation was Bergeron's reaction. The Bruins have been criticized for trying to "dive" to draw a call from the referees this postseason (refer to last nights goalie interference call on Vancouver). Well Bergeron complained on the ice but he was doing it in a dignified manner and didn't lose his cool. And today you'd expect Bergeron to go on a tirade against the NHL. But this is what he said about the lack of suspension: "I don't want to whine about that stuff. I don't care." Because of that, Patrice Bergeron is my new favorite Bruin. He knows that whining isn't going to change anything and if he wants the Stanley Cup he has to focus on working hard and not crying your way to a man advantage.
Good job Patrice. Good job.
